Refugees and Asylum Seekers in Cyprus deserve a better life
Vocational training – a crucial step for integration in the Cyprus society
“First Step” Vocational Training Program for Third Country Nationals organizes the Graduation Ceremony for the successful completion of the First Stage of the project.
The event will take place on the 11th of February, 2020 | time 6.00 – 8.00 pm at the European University Cyprus – Cultural Center.
The ceremony includes a welcome speech by Ms Nadia Karayianni (Project Manager) and introductory remarks by the head of the European Fund Unit, Mr Constantinos Kyprianou.
The graduation ceremony will follow. Around 300 TCNs, especially refugees and asylum seekers, have successfully completed the First Stage of the vocational training program.
According to the criteria of the project, around 100 of them will continue to the Second Stage for advanced training in specific occupations.
During the event, graduates will share their experiences and expectations on their prospects of getting a job.
A cultural performance by Refugees and Asylum Seekers participants will follow.
Master of the Ceremony will be Rema Beshtawy, Asylum seeker from Syria and participant in the project.
The “First Step” program is co-funded by the European Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund and the Cyprus Republic.
